The provisional 2027 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship calendar has been unveiled — a 12-round journey spanning nine countries and three continents. From a historic farewell at Phillip Island to a brand‑new finale in Shanghai, and the return of a classic European venue, next season promises change, tradition, and expansion in equal measure. Here’s your full guide to what’s coming up.

Down Under: One Last Time at Phillip Island

The season gets underway 19–21 February at the legendary Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit — but this will be WorldSBK’s final visit to the venue. From 2028 onwards, the Australian round relocates to The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia, making the 2027 edition a landmark occasion.

Known for its blisteringly fast, sweeping layout perched on Victoria’s rugged coastline, Phillip Island has long been a fan and rider favourite. The campaign will kick off with the official pre‑season test 15–16 February, giving teams and riders their first competitive look at the new machinery before the racing begins. Both WorldSBK and WorldSSP will be in action right from the opening weekend.

Europe Returns — Valencia Back on the Map

The championship moves to the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão 19–21 March for the first European stop. This weekend also marks the season opener for the WorldSPB and WorldWCR classes, meaning all four categories will be on track together. Preparations get underway with an official test session at the circuit on 15 March.

Then comes a welcome comeback: 2–4 April sees Circuit Ricardo Tormo near Valencia return to the calendar. The Spanish venue was a staple of the schedule from 2000 to 2010 and makes a long‑awaited return, offering a stadium‑style layout where spectators can see large sections of the track from a single vantage point. Valencia joins MotorLand Aragón as one of two Spanish rounds; Jerez will not feature in 2027 due to major renovation works taking place at the circuit.

Spring and Summer: Classic Circuits and First Appearances

From Valencia, the schedule unfolds as follows:

  • 23–25 April — TT Circuit Assen, Netherlands
  • 14–16 May — MotorLand Aragón, Spain
  • 5–7 June — Automotodrom Most, Czech Republic
  • 12–24 June — Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, Italy
  • 9–11 July — Donington Park, United Kingdom

The Donington Park round holds extra significance: it will be the first time the WorldSPB class has raced at the Leicestershire venue, adding another layer of interest to the traditional summer meeting. This also stands as the final event before the mid‑season break.

Autumn Action — Cremona, Estoril and European Closure

Racing resumes in early September:

  • 5–7 September — Circuit de Nevers Magny‑Cours, France
  • 26–28 September — Cremona Circuit, Italy
  • 15–17 October — Autódromo do Estoril, Portugal

Estoril brings the curtain down on the European campaign and also serves as the final round of the eight‑race WorldSPB season, ensuring plenty of title drama right across the paddock.

History Made: Shanghai Hosts the Finale

The 2027 WorldSBK season concludes in groundbreaking fashion at the Shanghai International Circuit on 29–31 October — the Championship’s first ever visit to China.

Designed by Hermann Tilke and opened in 2004, the venue sits in the Jiading District on the outskirts of Shanghai and has hosted top‑level motorsport from Formula 1 through to endurance racing. Its inclusion marks the culmination of several years of development in the region, strengthening ties with China’s rapidly growing motorcycle industry and fanbase. Both WorldSBK and WorldSSP will be in action for the season decider, with WorldSSP set to join the premier class at all 12 rounds throughout the campaign.
