Joint leader on points and ahead on race wins, Marquez played down suggestions that the Red Bull Ring holds any special advantage despite winning here in 2025.
“Whether I’m leading or behind by a few points, the approach doesn’t change. It’s the same job, the same focus. Austria is a great track, but it’s not magic — we still have to ride the bike fast. We come here to do our best, nothing more, nothing less.”

Jorge Martin — Austria Decides Surgery Fate
For Martin, this weekend is about more than just championship points. The Aprilia Racing star confirmed that the arm pump issues which hampered him at Misano have reached a critical point — and his performance here will determine whether he undergoes surgery immediately after the Grand Prix.
“I have to be honest: this weekend will be a test. If the arm is too painful, if I can’t ride at 100%, then yes — I will have surgery on Monday. We need to fix it properly so I can fight at my best for the rest of the season. I want to be strong here, but I also need to be smart about my health.”
Martin remains level on points with Marquez, but the physical toll of the campaign is now undeniable. He has won at the Red Bull Ring before — in 2021 — but this time he may be managing his body as much as his championship rival.
Pedro Acosta — The Perfect Send-Off
Third man in the spotlight was Pedro Acosta, who arrives as KTM’s home hero and fastest of all riders outside the top two over the last four races. The Spaniard confirmed that a maiden MotoGP victory on home soil would mean more than just five stars on the trophy — it would be the perfect way to close his chapter with the Austrian manufacturer before moving on in 2027.
“This is KTM’s home race. I’ve grown up with this brand, they’ve given me everything. To win here before we part ways? That would be the best way to finish the story. The last few races have shown we have the pace — now we need to turn that into a result.”
Bezzecchi Regroups — “I’m Not Out of This”
Thirty-three points adrift after his Misano heartbreak, Marco Bezzecchi has spoken openly about the need to reset and reload. The Italian crashed out of the lead on Lap One at his home Grand Prix, a blow that dropped him from second to third in the standings. But he insists his title challenge is far from over.
“Misano is in the past. I’ve looked at the data, I’ve understood what happened, and now I move forward. I’m still 33 points behind — yes — but there are still eight races to go. That’s a lot of points. I’ve seen big comebacks before, I’m part of one now. Austria is a new weekend, a new chance, and I will be fighting.”
Bezzecchi was a force to be reckoned with on the flyaway rounds last season, and with the overseas leg fast approaching, he knows a strong performance this weekend could reignite his momentum exactly when it matters.

Ai Ogura Cleared to Return
There was welcome news elsewhere: Ai Ogura will make his long-awaited comeback at the Red Bull Ring. The Trackhouse Racing rider has missed the last two rounds with a hand injury sustained in training, but has been passed fit to take part in FP1. His participation will be reviewed after the opening session, with a final decision on his weekend status to follow.
Senna Agius Confirmed for 2027 MotoGP Promotion
The paddock also learned that Senna Agius will step up to MotoGP next season with Red Bull KTM Tech3, following his sensational form in Moto2. The Australian — who took pole at Misano before crashing out on the opening lap — insisted his focus remains firmly on the job at hand.
“It’s a dream come true, but I haven’t finished in Moto2 yet. There’s still work to do this year, and that’s where my head is right now. I want to repay the faith shown in me by delivering results here and now.”
