Razgatlioglu and Bulega face off at Jerez

What to Look Out for in Jerez

Championship Standings & Title Permutations

As the WorldSBK season reaches its thrilling conclusion at Jerez, Toprak Razgatlioglu of the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team leads the championship standings with 473 points. He holds a 46-point advantage over his closest challenger, Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati), who has accumulated 427 points. Both riders will be fiercely competing for the championship title at Jerez, with Razgatlioglu looking to clinch the crown. If Razgatlioglu finishes Race 1 losing no more than 9 points to Bulega, he will be crowned the 2024 WorldSBK Champion.

Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) rounds out the top three with 402 points, 71 points behind Razgatlioglu, officially putting him out of the title race. Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team), who recently claimed the Independent Riders’ title at Estoril, sits fourth in the standings with 292 points.

Historical Performance

Alvaro Bautista is no stranger to success at Jerez. The Spanish rider dominated the circuit in 2023 with a hat-trick of victories, which ultimately secured his WorldSBK championship title. Bautista also holds the record for the most wins at the Jerez circuit, boasting five victories.

Toprak Razgatlioglu has also experienced success at Jerez, claiming two wins during his time with Yamaha. Other previous winners at the track include Jonathan Rea (Pata Prometeon Yamaha), Scott Redding (Bonovo Action BMW), and Michael van der Mark (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team), each having achieved notable victories at the Spanish circuit.

Nicolo Bulega, while new to WorldSBK at Jerez, has an impressive history at the circuit. In 2023, he secured a double victory in the WorldSSP category, marking him as a strong contender to challenge Razgatlioglu for the title in his first WorldSBK race at the circuit.

As the season finale approaches, all eyes will be on Jerez to see who will emerge as the 2024 WorldSBK Champion.

Huertas eyes WorldSSP crown at Jerez

What to Look Out for in Jerez

Championship Standings & Title Permutations

Adrian Huertas of the Aruba.it Racing WorldSSP Team arrives at the season finale in Jerez as the championship leader, holding a 45-point lead over Stefano Manzi from the Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team. After a DNF in Race 2 at the Estoril Round, Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) has dropped to third in the standings and is now officially out of title contention.

Huertas has a clear path to the championship in Jerez. He will secure the title in Race 1 if he finishes 11th or better, thereby earning at least 5 points. Alternatively, if Manzi fails to win Race 1, Huertas will also clinch the title regardless of his own finishing position.

Performance Insights

Federico Caricasulo, riding for Motozoo ME AIR Racing, is the only current rider on the grid with a previous win at Jerez, making him one to watch this weekend. Meanwhile, both Yari Montella and Stefano Manzi demonstrated impressive speed in the Estoril Round, with both riders competing hard for victories.

Adrian Huertas will be looking to return to the top step of the podium after his last victory in Race 1 at Aragon. As the championship showdown approaches, these key players will be pushing their limits to close out the season on a high note at the iconic Jerez circuit.

What to Look Out for in Jerez

Championship Standings

Aldi Satya Mahendra (Team BrCorse) leads the WorldSSP300 championship with 195 points and is on the verge of capturing his first title. However, the Indonesian rider faces tough competition from Loris Veneman (MTM Kawasaki), who sits just 16 points behind with 179 points. With 50 points still up for grabs across the two races in Jerez, Veneman will be pushing hard to close the gap and secure his first championship win.

Inigo Iglesias (Fusport-RT Motorsport by SKM-Kawasaki), with 163 points, is still in the title hunt following his victory at Aragon. However, for Iglesias to claim the crown, he will need a flawless performance over the weekend combined with some unfortunate results for Mahendra and Veneman.

Mahendra can clinch the championship in Race 1 if he outscores Veneman by 10 points and loses no more than 6 points to Iglesias.

Historical Performance

While Jerez has not hosted a WorldSSP300 race since 2021, it remains a familiar track for several riders on the current grid. The circuit has been the site of past triumphs in WorldSSP300, with three riders having secured victories there.

Galang Pratama (ProGP NitiRacing) made history as the first rider to win a WorldSSP300 race at Jerez in 2017, followed by Marc Garcia (KOVE Racing Team), who also claimed a victory at the Spanish track. Most recently, Jeffrey Buis (Freudenberg KTM-PALIGO Racing) took a win at Jerez in 2021.

These riders will be looking to draw on their past success at the circuit as they aim for strong finishes in this season’s final showdown.
