WorldWCR Riders Ready for Portimao Showdown

As the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship heads to the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve for the Pirelli Portuguese Round, anticipation is mounting with the season heating up.

Leading the standings is Maria Herrera (Klint Forward Factory Team), who has been in stellar form, securing three wins out of the first four races, accumulating 88 points. Close behind is Ana Carrasco (Evan Bros Racing Yamaha Team) with 81 points, while Sara Sanchez (511 Terra & Vita Racing Team) holds third place with 68 points. Beatriz Neila (Ampito / Pata Prometeon Yamaha), who recently celebrated her first podium finish at Donington Park, sits in fourth with 57 points.

Maria Herrera brings valuable experience to Portimao, having competed in MotoE™ earlier this year, where she finished 11th. She also has multiple races under her belt at Portimao with WorldSSP.

Ana Carrasco, a trailblazer in women’s road racing, made history at Portimao in 2017 with the first-ever FIM Solo Road Racing World Championship win by a female rider. Her record at this track includes two victories, underscoring her expertise and strength here.

Beatriz Neila, who raced at Portimao in WorldSSP300 in 2019, achieved her best result in the category with a seventh-place finish.

Many riders have been intensively preparing for this round, including Tayla Relph (TAYCO Motorsport) and Emily Bondi (YART Zelos Black Knights Team), both of whom have tested at Portimao in recent weeks.
