Neila and Herrera Locked in Battle as WorldWCR Heads to Cremona

With the opening round in Assen now in the rearview mirror, the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship (WorldWCR) prepares to shift gears as the paddock heads to Cremona for Round 2 of the 2025 season. Following a pair of fiercely contested races in the Netherlands, the title fight is already taking shape—and it’s neck and neck at the top.

Championship Leaders: Neila and Herrera Share the Spoils

Beatriz Neila (Ampito Crescent Yamaha) and Maria Herrera (Klint Forward Racing Team) are currently tied on 45 points apiece after splitting victories at Assen. Both riders showcased sharp form and composure, standing on the podium in both races to establish early momentum in their title campaigns.

Strong Start for Sanchez and Ponziani

Hot on their heels is Sara Sanchez (Terra & Vita GRT Yamaha WorldWCR Team), who occupies third place in the standings with 32 points. Her double-podium weekend at Assen solidified her status as a consistent front-runner.

Just behind her in fourth is Roberta Ponziani (Klint Forward Racing Team), who delivered a pair of solid results to collect 24 points. The Italian rider will be especially motivated heading into her home round at Cremona.

Emerging Talent Making Waves

Beyond the seasoned podium contenders, a few newcomers have already made their presence felt. Avalon Biddle Lewis (Carl Cox Motorsports) and Chloe Jones (GR Motosport) impressed in their WorldWCR debuts, showing flashes of race-leading pace and positioning themselves as future podium threats.

Cremona: A Familiar Battleground

The upcoming round at Cremona promises intriguing dynamics, particularly due to the grid’s prior experience at the circuit. All teams and riders took part in the official 2025 pre-season test at the Italian venue, providing them with valuable data and insight that could prove decisive over race weekend.

Looking back to 2024, the circuit also hosted one of the standout rounds of the season. Maria Herrera and Ana Carrasco (now competing in WorldSSP) took the race wins last year, while Sanchez, Ponziani, and Tayla Relph (Full Throttle Racing) all secured podiums. With each of them returning this year—minus Carrasco—the stage is set for a fierce rematch.

Wildcard Addition: Denise Dal Zotto Joins the Grid

Adding further excitement to the Cremona round is the entry of wildcard rider Denise Dal Zotto, who will compete with the Affinity Sports Academy Rokit Rookies team. The Italian brings a strong résumé, having competed in the Women’s Italian CIV Championship, the Women’s European Championship, and the Yamaha R7 Cup. Her local knowledge and racing experience make her a rider to watch this weekend.
