Spain’s Maria Herrera has etched her name even deeper into the history books, clinching the 2025 FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship at Jerez. Her triumph marks not only a personal milestone but also a landmark achievement for the Klint Forward Factory Team and for women’s motorcycle racing as a whole.
After narrowly missing out on the inaugural 2024 title, where she finished as runner-up, Herrera returned this year with renewed fire and a razor-sharp focus. Determined to leave no room for doubt, she delivered one of the most consistent and commanding campaigns seen in the young history of the series.
From the very first round, Herrera set the tone. She led the championship standings almost from start to finish — surrendering the top spot only once, after Race 2 at Assen, when rival Beatriz Neila briefly edged ahead. Even then, the pair were tied on points, a reflection of the season-long intensity of their rivalry. But from that moment onward, Herrera’s balance of aggression and composure became the defining factor.
By season’s end, her record spoke volumes:
- 6 race victories
- 10 podium finishes
- 3 pole positions
- 245 championship points — securing the title by just five points over Neila.
It was the kind of campaign that champions are made of — not flawless, but full of fight, precision, and heart.
Maria Herrera (Klint Forward Factory Team):
“It’s such an amazing feeling to have won this championship! I wanted to be faster in today’s race, but the group was really big, and I had a couple of close moments. In the end, I decided to manage the situation and make sure we brought it home safely.
My team truly deserves this — they’ve worked so hard, not just this year but last season too. We went through some tough moments, but luck and effort were both on our side today. Beatriz was incredibly strong all season and pushed me to my limits — I think this year’s fight was even tougher than 2024! I’m proud of how we finished, and my goal now is to come back stronger next year.”
Racing Journey: From Trailblazer to Champion
Maria Herrera’s latest success is another chapter in a career defined by breaking barriers. She was the first female rider to win a race in the FIM CEV Repsol series, a historic moment that cemented her reputation as a pioneer in Spanish motorcycle racing.
Her path since then has taken her through nearly every corner of the sport. She made multiple Moto3™ World Championship appearances — including a full Grand Prix season in 2015 — and since 2019 has been a key competitor in MotoE™, the electric motorcycle world championship.
In 2023, Herrera made further history by being part of the first all-female Grand Prix team, another milestone in her already groundbreaking career.
When the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing Championship (WorldWCR) launched in 2024, Herrera was one of the first riders to sign on — a natural leader for a new era. That debut season brought her close to the title, and in 2025, she turned that experience into gold, fulfilling her promise as the championship’s benchmark rider.

What’s Next for the Champion?
Now, with the WorldWCR crown finally secured, the motorsport world is watching closely to see what comes next for Herrera. Her dominance, professionalism, and composure have made her a role model for young riders and a key figure in the future of women’s motorcycle racing.
Whether she chooses to defend her title, explore new racing categories, or continue helping elevate the visibility of women in motorsport, one thing is certain — Maria Herrera’s story is far from over.
Her 2025 championship season not only solidifies her place as the class of the field but also symbolizes a major step forward for the entire WorldWCR project — proof that the women’s championship is growing faster, stronger, and more competitive with every lap.
