Race 1 Highlights:

Maria Herrera of the Klint Forward Factory Team clinched victory in the inaugural five-lap WorldWCR race at the Misano World Circuit. She set a blistering pace, crossing the finish line just 0.067 seconds ahead of fellow Spaniard Ana Carrasco from the Evan Bros Racing Yamaha Team.

Sara Sanchez from the 511 Terra&Vita Racing Team secured third place, finishing half a second ahead of Roberta Ponziani of the Yamaha Motoxracing WCR Team, who came fourth, and Beatriz Neila from the Ampito / Pata Prometeon Yamaha team, who finished fifth.

Ana Carrasco recorded the fastest lap of the race with a time of 1’48.594 on lap four, earning her the pole position for Sunday’s Race 2.

The race saw early retirements for Lena Kemmer (Bertl K. Racing Team), Iryna Nadieieva (MPS.RT), and Mallory Dobbs (Sekhmet Motorcycle Racing Team), all of whom crashed but sustained no serious injuries.

The event was marked by interruptions. The original race was red-flagged on lap six due to a serious incident involving Mia Rusthen of Rusthen Racing at Turn 16. Rusthen suffered a head injury and concussion and is currently receiving treatment at the Bufalini Trauma Centre in Cesena, where her condition has stabilized.

A second attempt at the race was also red-flagged after Jessica Howden of Team Trasimeno crashed on lap one. The South African rider was diagnosed with a concussion and was transported by helicopter to the Bufalini Trauma Centre, where she is conscious.

Podium Comments:

P1 | Maria Herrera | Klint Forward Factory Team
“I’m thrilled to have won the first-ever WorldWCR race. This victory is the result of hard work over the past month. I didn’t even ride the bike until yesterday, but I pushed hard in every session and was pleasantly surprised to set pole. The battle with Ana was tough, and I was on the limit, but strong on the brakes. I still need to understand the bike more to be faster, but I’m working well with the team and am pleased with our progress.”

P2 | Ana Carrasco | Evan Bros Racing Yamaha Team
“I’m quite happy with today’s result, especially after the earlier red flags. Managing a five-lap race is challenging, and although I didn’t win, it was very close. I’ll try to improve for tomorrow’s Race 2. This is my first race since last October, so Maria has had more race experience this season, and the sprint format suited her better today. Our pace was nearly identical, so I expect a similar race tomorrow. The nerves were high among the riders today, being the first race in a new championship, and I was nervous too.”

P3 | Sara Sanchez | 511 Terra&Vita Racing Team
“Today was challenging, especially starting the race three times. I’m very happy to reach the podium given the high level of competition. I want to keep improving to aim for a win tomorrow. I lost time off the line today and only had five laps to recover. Battling with Neila and Ponziani was great, but with a longer race tomorrow, I believe I can be more competitive if I get a better start.”
