A Mexican Success Story: Astrid Madrigal
Rising Star on the World Stage
Astrid Madrigal, a 24-year-old rider from Chihuahua, Mexico, has rapidly emerged as a formidable talent in the national and Latin American motorcycle racing scenes. Her skill and determination earned her a wildcard entry in the WorldSSP300 series in 2023, leading to a spot on the grid for the inaugural WorldWCR season. Inspired by sports icons like Ayrton Senna and Serena Williams, Madrigal is passionate about paving the way for young female riders from Mexico and the Americas to compete on the world stage.
Early Motorcycle Memories
Reflecting on her early days, Astrid recalls, “My first memory of motorcycling is with my father. I was on my first motocross bike, a PW50, on a supercross track. I crashed and didn’t want to continue, but my father picked me up, kissed me, and we kept going. I was six years old then, and by eight, I was already competing. Motorcycles were always part of my life, thanks to my father.”
From National Success to the World Scene
Following in her father’s footsteps, who competed in Superbike racing in Mexico, Madrigal honed her skills in supercross, enhancing her technique and speed. By age 13, she entered Mexico’s national Superbike championship, progressing to become a Latin American Champion, Ibero American Champion, and Pan American Champion. In 2023, she competed in the ESBK Supersport 300 series in Spain and made history at the WorldSBK Aragon Round as the first Latin American woman to race in the WorldSSP300 championship. This year, her goal is to finish in the WorldWCR’s Top 5.
Relocating for a Dream
To pursue her dream of becoming a professional rider, Madrigal relocated from Chihuahua to Mexico City at a young age. With the encouragement of her father and under the guidance of ITALIKA Racing director Jorge Perez, she refined her racing abilities, eventually participating in the Road to MotoGP™ program.
Advocating for Women in Motorsports
Madrigal has long been an advocate for the inclusion of professional female riders in Mexico. Her efforts have been instrumental in promoting women’s participation in the sport. “I’ve been promoting motorcycles in Mexico and Latin America for years,” she said. “I’ve helped many girls achieve their dreams and improve both on and off the circuit. It’s gratifying to be part of the movement that helped make the women’s World Championship a reality.” She is also proud to serve as an ambassador for the FIM in Latin America, representing Mexico on the world stage.
Beyond the Track: A Passion for Animals
Outside of racing, Madrigal is an avid animal lover. She owns a pug named Patrick and is involved in a foundation that cares for stray dogs, improving their health and well-being. The facility she helped establish now houses over 300 dogs. Additionally, she looks after 25 rabbits on her property, showcasing her deep love for animals.
Astrid Madrigal’s journey is a testament to her determination and passion, both on the track and in her advocacy efforts, making her a standout figure in the world of motorsports.

Astrid currently sits 17th in the standings after the first four races,
with her best result being a 12th place finish at Misano.
