The 2025 Isle of Man TT Races officially got underway on Monday morning, but poor weather meant the only action on the course was limited to controlled laps for the Newcomers.

With earlier forecasts already forcing a change to the day’s schedule, organisers scrapped the full qualifying program and instead opted to run two untimed laps per class. The session began at 10:50 a.m., with Rider Liaison Officers Richard Quayle and John Barton leading solo newcomers Barry Burrell and Mitch Rees around the iconic Mountain Course.

Soon after, it was time for the sidecar newcomers to head out. Among the drivers taking part were Stephen Kershaw, George Holden, James Saunders, and the French teams of Bruno Mathern with Mathilde Jully, and Steevens Palacouer with Yann Druel. They were accompanied by experienced drivers including Greg Lambert, Steve Ramsden, and Gary Gibson, who helped guide them around the 37.73-mile circuit.

However, not long after the session began, conditions started to worsen. Rain moved in over the Grandstand and several other key sections of the course, leaving organisers with no choice but to call off the rest of the day’s on-track activity.

Attention now turns to Tuesday evening, when the first official Qualifying session is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
