TODD FASTEST IN SUPERBIKE CLASS DURING SECOND TT QUALIFYING SESSION

Sunshine once again lit up the Isle of Man on Friday afternoon as riders returned to the Mountain Course for the second qualifying session of the 2025 Isle of Man TT. Dean Harrison set the day’s quickest time aboard his Honda Racing Superstock bike, clocking an impressive 132.853mph — just shy of his best from Wednesday.

In the Superbike class, it was Davey Todd who came out on top, putting in a 132.673mph lap on the Monster Energy by 8TEN Racing BMW. Harrison led Supersport on 128.093mph, while Michael Dunlop posted the fastest Supertwin time of the day with a 122.159mph lap on the Paton. The Crowe brothers, Ryan and Callum, continued to shine in the Sidecar class, recording the fastest ever qualifying lap for a three-wheeler at 120.202mph.

SUPERBIKE & SUPERSTOCK ROUNDUP

Just like Wednesday, the session opened with Superbike and Superstock machines, though proceedings began slightly behind schedule at 1:20 p.m. Many of the top riders opted to start on their Superstock bikes, though John McGuinness MBE, Davey Todd, James Hillier, and Conor Cummins all rolled out on Superbikes.

James Hillier (Muc-Off Racing Honda) was first away from Glencrutchery Road, followed by Michael Dunlop (MD Racing BMW), Conor Cummins (Burrows Engineering/RK Racing BMW), David Johnson (Platinum Club Racing Kawasaki), Peter Hickman (Monster Energy by 8TEN Racing BMW Motorrad), Mike Browne (KTS Racing by Stanley Stewart BMW), and Ian Hutchinson (moobob/MLav Racing BMW).

Dunlop was first to complete a lap at 130.225mph, but Harrison quickly moved to the top of the Superstock timesheets with a 131.434mph lap. Hickman wasn’t far behind at 130.797mph, followed by Dunlop, James Hind (128.926mph), and Browne (128.912mph). Todd, though, stole the headlines with the fastest lap of the session — a blistering 132.673mph on his Superbike. Cummins (129.059mph) and Shaun Anderson (128.991mph) also delivered strong early laps.

Several riders changed machines for their second runs — Todd switched to his Superstock BMW, while Dunlop jumped onto his Superbike. Harrison and Hickman stayed out, and Harrison’s second effort of 132.853mph gave him the edge in Superstock, just ahead of Hickman’s 132.290mph. Browne (129.585mph), Hutchinson (128.837mph), and Cummins (131.027mph) all improved on their first runs, while newcomer Mitch Rees continued to impress with a 123.738mph lap.

Second laps for Todd (128.145mph) and Dunlop (127.781mph) were below expectations, possibly hinting at minor issues. Harrison also posted a 129.328mph lap on his Superbike, which placed him seventh overall. Hickman improved again with a 131.326mph lap, while Nathan Harrison cracked the 130mph barrier for the first time, albeit unofficially, with a 130.172mph lap. Hutchinson’s 129.756mph effort marked his best since 2022 and put him fifth among Superstock riders.

SIDECAR SESSION: CROWES IN COMMAND

Next up were the Sidecars. The Crowe brothers led the field away, followed by Founds/Walmsley, Birchall/Rosney, Crawford/Hardie, and Ellis/Clement. The Crowes immediately asserted their pace, laying down an opening lap of 119.668mph to top the leaderboard.

They went straight back out for a second run while Birchall/Rosney (115.129mph), Blackstock/Lawrence (114.636mph), Crawford/Hardie (114.143mph), and Ellis/Clement (111.219mph) completed solid opening laps.

Among the Sidecar newcomers, Kieran Clarke and Andrew Johnson were quickest with a 109.354mph lap, ahead of George Holden/Mark Wilkes (107.973mph) and Steve Kershaw/Rhys Gibbons (107.757mph).

On their second lap, the Crowes raised the bar with a stunning 120.202mph effort, just a whisker away from their personal best of 120.335mph. Founds/Walmsley moved up into second with a 116.638mph lap, while Crawford/Hardie (114.527mph), Ellis/Clement (111.641mph), and Clarke/Johnson (110.337mph) all posted improved times.

SUPERSPORT & SUPERTWIN: RECORD PACE FROM HARRISON

The Supersport and Supertwin session got underway at 3:00 p.m. Peter Hickman (Trooper Triumph by PHR Performance) led the group out, followed by Gary Johnson (CD Racing by MSS Performance Kawasaki), Josh Brookes (Jackson Racing/Prosper2 Honda), Michael Dunlop (Milwaukee/MD Racing Ducati), Hillier (Bournemouth Kawasaki), and Paul Jordan, also on a Jackson Racing bike.

Todd was quickest on the first lap with a time of 126.852mph, narrowly ahead of Dunlop (126.742mph), Hickman (126.475mph), Harrison (126.018mph), Hillier (125.510mph), and Jordan (125.336mph). Over in the Supertwin class, Michael Evans (Dafabet Racing) led early with a 120.611mph effort, followed by Browne (120.154mph), Dominic Herbertson (119.274mph), Barry Furber (118.050mph), Stefano Bonetti (117.570mph), and Adam McLean (116.847mph).

Second laps saw several riders improve dramatically. Harrison laid down a scorching 128.093mph lap — the fastest ever Supersport qualifying lap on record. Dunlop (127.739mph), Hickman (127.543mph), and Brookes (125.892mph) also went quicker on their second passes.

In Supertwin, Evans upped his pace to 121.426mph, with Herbertson (121.194mph), Browne (120.816mph), and Furber (118.583mph) all following suit. Todd posted a 120.309mph lap on his Paton, but it was Dunlop who ended the session on top with a 122.159mph lap from a standing start — the quickest in class.
