CROWES CLAIM THEIR FIRST TT VICTORY IN 3WHEELING.MEDIA SIDECAR TT RACE 1

Crowe Brothers

Ryan and Callum Crowe secured their maiden victory at the Isle of Man TT Races by triumphing in the 3wheeling.media Sidecar TT Race 1, finishing 26.894 seconds ahead of Pete Founds and Jevan Walmsley, with Alan Founds and Rhys Gibbons securing third place.

The Crowes, riding their Kelproperties Honda, set the fastest lap of the race at 119.800mph, becoming the first Manx Sidecar winners since 2014 and emulating the achievement of their father, five-time winner Nick Crowe.

Under perfect conditions, the three-lap race began at 5.45pm, with the Crowes leading through Glen Helen on the opening lap, already holding a 6.3-second advantage over Founds and Walmsley on the FHO Racing Honda. Crawford and Hardie on the ARC Newton Aycliffe/SJH Bodyworks Kawasaki slotted into third, a further 4.4 seconds adrift, with Blackstock and Rosney, Founds and Gibbons, and Reeves and Wilkes completing the early top six. Unfortunately, Molyneux and Roberts on the Kelproperties Kawasaki retired at Ballacraine.

By Ballaugh, the Crowes had extended their lead to 9.4 seconds and had caught up with Founds and Walmsley on the road, overtaking them soon after on the run to Quarry Bends. Meanwhile, Founds and Gibbons had taken over third place from Blackstock and Rosney, with Crawford and Hardie dropping back to fifth. Only four seconds covered third to sixth place.

On the second lap, the Crowes’ lead increased to 12.2 seconds over Founds and Walmsley, with Blackstock and Rosney securing the final podium position, almost half a minute behind the leaders. Founds and Gibbons, Crawford and Hardie, and Reeves and Wilkes were in close contention for fourth, with only three seconds separating the quartet. Newcomers Ellis and Clement held seventh place after an impressive lap of 113.006mph.

The Ramsdens retired at the Creg-Ny-Baa, and Gibson and Christie suffered a fall at Brandywell, fortunately without injury, ending their race in eighth position.

On the final lap, the Crowes’ lead extended to almost 17 seconds at Glen Helen, while Founds and Gibbons moved back into third place, ultimately securing the final podium position. The Crowes comfortably brought their outfit home for a famous win, with Founds and Walmsley finishing more than half a minute behind in second place. Founds and Gibbons claimed third place, with Gibbons becoming the fastest newcomer ever. Ellis and Clement, Holden and Claeys, Saunders and Saunders, and Harrison and Moore completed the top ten.

Gibbons achieved the fastest newcomer title, while Ellis claimed the same accolade for a driver, and Clement became the fastest female passenger around the Mountain Course with her lap of 113.786mph, surpassing the previous record set by French compatriot Melanie Farnier two years ago.
