Lee Johnston has officially announced his withdrawal from the 2024 Isle of Man TT Races due to injuries sustained in a testing crash back in February.

Despite his efforts to recover from a broken right leg sustained at the Almeria Circuit in Spain, recent scans have indicated a slower recovery process than anticipated, dashing his hopes of returning to the TT, as detailed in his latest YouTube vlog.

This setback marks the second consecutive year Johnston will miss the TT, following his absence in 2023 due to severe injuries sustained at the North West 200. Initially planning a comeback with the Ashcourt Racing team across multiple classes, including Superbike, Supersport, Superstock, and Supertwin, Johnston expressed his disappointment in having to sit out again.

Reflecting on the challenging past year, Johnston expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from his team, family, and fans. Despite dedicated efforts with medical professionals and physiotherapists, the reality of the situation dictates that his leg isn’t yet fit for the demanding TT competition.

Acknowledging the rigorous standards required for success at the TT, Johnston emphasized the necessity of peak fitness for podium contention.

While this development represents a significant setback for both Johnston and his team, he remains appreciative of their support and is now focused on achieving a full recovery.

With his racing plans on hold, Johnston will redirect his TT involvement towards broadcasting, as he takes on a commentary role with Radio TT.
