Francesco Bagnaia Wins the Third Edition of the Lenovo Race of Champions Ahead of Andrea Iannone and Marc Márquez

Francesco Bagnaia Triumphs in Lenovo Race of Champions at WDW 2024
Misano Adriatico, July 27, 2024
Francesco Bagnaia dominated the third edition of the Lenovo Race of Champions during World Ducati Week. The race, held at the iconic Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli,” featured 15 Ducati riders competing on the new Panigale V4 S.
Starting from the second spot on the grid after securing a front-row position in the Day 1 qualifying session, Bagnaia quickly took the lead and maintained it until the chequered flag. The Ducati Lenovo Team rider set the fastest lap with a time of 1:35.431 and kept a consistent pace throughout the 10-lap race, finishing over a second ahead of the rest of the field.
Superbike rider Andrea Iannone (Team Go Eleven), who claimed pole position with a time of 1:35.051, finished second after fending off Nicolò Bulega for most of the race. However, Bulega, from the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team, fell at the last corner following contact with Marc Márquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP). Márquez crossed the finish line in third, completing the podium.
Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding, commented:
“The Lenovo Race of Champions is an incredible spectacle for all motorcycling fans. Personally, I had a lot of fun during the race, and seeing the red crowd of World Ducati Week in the grandstands of the Misano Circuit was very moving. Congratulations to Pecco, who once again showed his incredible talent by winning a world-class race, and congratulations to Andrea and Marc for their podium finishes. We wished Nicolò could join the podium celebration, but his medical checks after the crash took priority. The Lenovo Race of Champions and WDW2024 perfectly showcased the new Panigale V4, and the performance improvements since the 2022 race make us proud of our work on this motorcycle.”
Francesco Bagnaia (#1, Ducati Lenovo Team) – 1st Place:
“First of all, it was fantastic seeing so many people in the grandstands. I could even hear the cheering through my helmet while racing; it was really incredible. The race was great; I enjoyed it a lot. I didn’t know the gap, so I just kept pushing and had a lot of fun. I’m very happy to have tried the new Panigale V4 here in Misano, and I look forward to training on it from now on.”
