Jorge Martín has undergone a successful operation on his right collarbone following the crash he suffered in the Sprint at Motegi. The incident left the Spanish rider with a displaced fracture of the clavicle, and he returned home to Spain for treatment.
The surgery — a reduction and fixation of the fracture — was performed on Tuesday morning at Hospital Universitari Dexeus by the medical team led by Dr Xavier Mir. In plain terms, the operation involved realigning the broken bone (reduction) and securing it in place with hardware such as a plate and screws (fixation) so it can heal correctly.
The team will monitor Martín’s recovery closely in the days ahead and provide a clearer timetable once his immediate post-op progress is assessed. In the meantime, and in line with the championship regulations, the team will not field a replacement rider for the upcoming Indonesian Grand Prix.
