Anticipation Builds for the 2024 MotoGP™ Finale: Highlights from Thursday’s Press Conference

The 2024 MotoGP™ season has come down to this final weekend, with the much-anticipated showdown set to unfold at the Motul Solidarity Grand Prix of Barcelona. As the action heats up on the track at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, title contenders Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) faced off for a media session on Thursday, offering insights into their mindset ahead of #TheRematch decider.

As we gear up for Friday’s practices, here’s a look at the top takeaways from the day, including quotes from both riders as they prepare for a weekend that could define their careers.

Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing)

How does it feel to be in this weekend’s title race?

“I’m happy to be here and really excited to be in this championship battle with Pecco. With the level we’re both at now, it’s incredible that we’ve managed to stand out compared to everyone else. It feels like a privilege to be part of this race, especially with the cause we’re racing for — it adds meaning beyond the title. I feel confident in myself and am looking forward to getting on the bike because it’s been a week full of thoughts, which is normal in situations like these. I’m a bit nervous, as always, but the most important thing is that we’ll be on track tomorrow, and I’ll finally get to enjoy the weekend and hopefully stay competitive.”

Martin’s confidence, coupled with a healthy dose of nerves, will likely add extra energy to his performance as he chases his first World Championship title.

Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team)

Do you think you can retain the #1 plate this Sunday?

“First off, I’m thrilled to be racing here. It’s an important mission for us to honor Valencia, given everything that’s happened there. This weekend, we know that pulling back 24 points in one go is a tough challenge, but I’m committed to giving it my all. My mission is to win both races, and then we’ll see where things stand on Sunday. We’ve had a strong showing on this track in the past — back in May, we were very competitive. I mean, we finished first and second, and third place was 11 seconds behind us, so we showed we’re at a different level. I hope a few other riders get into the mix, but I’ll keep pushing for the win. I know Jorge could play it safe, and he might only need to finish around seventh in each race to clinch the title, but you never know — pressure can make things unpredictable. We’ll have to see how it plays out on Sunday.”

Bagnaia is keeping a level-headed yet focused approach to the weekend, understanding the tough odds while pushing forward with confidence and aiming for a flawless performance on familiar ground.

With both riders fully aware of what’s at stake, they’ll be looking to make every second count once the action begins on Friday. Make sure to follow along as the two MotoGP™ stars take on this final, high-stakes test, bringing the 2024 season to a thrilling conclusion at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
