Martin denies Bagnaia on home turf as Morbidelli claims maiden Sprint podium

The Spaniard storms to Sprint glory to extend his lead to 26 points, escaping a last lap battle to complete the podium.
Jorge Martin Extends Championship Lead with Stunning Tissot Sprint Win at Misano
Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) solidified his Championship lead at the Gran Premio Red Bull di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini with a commanding victory in the Tissot Sprint. Despite being in “enemy territory,” Martin outpaced home favorite and reigning Champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) to take the win. With this triumph, Martin now holds a 26-point lead over Bagnaia, who had to settle for second place after fending off late challenges from Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac Racing) and Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team).
The race began with Bagnaia getting a solid start, but Martin was quicker off the line, immediately launching an attack into Turn 1. He took the lead and quickly set a blistering pace, with Bagnaia giving chase in second and Morbidelli holding third.
Enea Bastianini, starting from P8, made significant progress, moving up to fifth behind Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) and just ahead of Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3). Meanwhile, Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) dropped to the back end of the top ten after a tough start, eventually finding himself just behind Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™), who was also on the move.
At the front, Martin maintained a small but steady lead, while Morbidelli stayed close behind. The action heated up in the second group as Bastianini overtook Binder for fourth, narrowing the gap to the podium fight.
Drama struck when Bezzecchi crashed out of the race, followed shortly by his teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio, both riders fortunately uninjured.
Meanwhile, a fierce battle for fifth place unfolded between Acosta and Binder, with Acosta eventually overtaking Binder. Just ahead, Bastianini was rapidly closing in on Morbidelli, who was losing touch with the leading duo. Bastianini shaved off half a second of the gap in a single lap.
As the race neared its conclusion, Marquez made a decisive move on Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) and then on Binder, setting his sights on Acosta. He eventually passed Acosta in the final laps to secure fifth place.
On the final lap, Bastianini and Morbidelli were both closing in on Bagnaia, who was struggling to maintain his pace. Bastianini made an early pass on Morbidelli but went wide, allowing Morbidelli to cut back inside. The trio closed in on each other, creating a thrilling three-way battle in the final sector.
Martin managed to extend his lead slightly and crossed the finish line to claim another impressive Sprint victory, leaving Misano as the Championship leader. Bagnaia and Morbidelli held on to complete the podium, with Bastianini finishing fourth.
Marquez’s last-lap pass on Acosta secured him fifth place, followed by Binder and Miller. Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) rounded out the top eight, fending off Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) for the final Sprint point.
As the main race approaches on Sunday, the question remains: can Martin maintain his dominance over the full Grand Prix distance? Will Bagnaia bounce back? Or will Morbidelli, Bastianini, and Marquez rise to the challenge? Find out when MotoGP™ returns to the track at 14:00 (UTC+2).

Arbolino edges out Vietti for debut Moto2™ pole as Garcia goes from P24

Tony Arbolino Claims First Moto2™ Pole Position at Misano
Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) has secured his maiden Moto2™ pole position after edging out fellow Italian Celestino Vietti (Red Bull KTM Ajo) in a fiercely competitive Q2 session. Arbolino’s performance was enough to take the top spot, while Vietti will start alongside him in second place. Joining them on the front row in P3 is Ai Ogura (MT Helmets – MSI), marking the Japanese rider’s third Q2 top-three finish of the season—a crucial result at this stage.
Why is Ogura’s result so important? It comes as Championship leader Sergio Garcia (MT Helmets – MSI) endures a challenging weekend, managing only P24 on the grid for the San Marino GP.
Aron Canet (Fantic Racing) will lead the second row in P4, just a couple of tenths off pole. He’s joined by rookie Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team) and Albert Arenas (QJMOTOR Gresini Moto2™) in P5 and P6, respectively.
Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing Team) secured P7, while Alonso Lopez (Beta Tools SpeedUp) advanced from Q1 to start P8. Meanwhile, title contenders Fermin Aldeguer (Beta Tools SpeedUp) and Jake Dixon (CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team) will begin Sunday’s race from P10 and P14, hoping to climb through the field and collect valuable championship points.
Don’t miss the Moto2™ race on Sunday at 12:15 (UTC +2) as the title chase intensifies at Misano!
