David Alonso to Move Up to Moto2 with CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team in 2025
Young Colombian rider currently leads the Moto3 World Championship by 75 points

David Alonso, the current leader of the Moto3 World Championship, will advance to Moto2 in 2025 with the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team. Alonso, who holds a commanding 75-point lead in the Moto3 standings with eight races remaining, will be the first rider to complete the Aspar Team’s training progression from the Spanish Championship to Moto2.

Alonso’s journey with the Aspar Team began in 2018, competing in the Spanish Championship. Over the past seven seasons, he has secured three major titles: the Spanish 85GP Championship (2018), the European Talent Cup (2020), and the Red Bull Rookies Cup (2021). After two successful years in JuniorGP, Alonso made his Moto3 debut at just 16 years old.

In his rookie Moto3 season, Alonso impressed with four wins and eight podium finishes, ultimately securing third in the championship standings, just 29 points behind the champion. In 2024, he has established himself as the standout rider in the class, clinching seven wins in the first twelve races and holding the largest points lead across all World Championship categories.

David Alonso:

“I believe this is the perfect time to step up to Moto2. We’ve shown our strength this year, and the goal now is to move into the intermediate category with the Moto3 title in hand. I’m proud to take this step with the CFMOTO Aspar Team, which feels like a second family to me. They believed in me back in 2017 when I was just eleven years old, and together, we’ve achieved so much. I’m excited to continue growing with them and aim for more success.”

Jorge Martínez “Aspar”:

“David represents the pinnacle of the work we’ve been doing with young riders in recent years, and it’s a joy to announce that next year he will be racing for us in Moto2. He’s grown alongside the team and is now performing at an exceptional level in Moto3. We’re aiming to finish this season with the world title and make his move to Moto2 as the reigning champion.”
