“It’s MotoGP. The level is extremely high”

There’s something special about stepping foot on Phillip Island again. The sound of the sea breeze, the sight of Bass Strait, and the unmistakable buzz that only MotoGP can bring. After a week’s break, the world’s fastest riders and fiercest rivalries have rolled back into town for the Liqui Moly Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix — and if history’s anything to go by, we’re in for another unpredictable weekend Down Under.
And yes, that unpredictability extends beyond the racing — the weather at Phillip Island is as famous as the circuit itself. Four seasons in one day? Wouldn’t be the first time.

Thursday Talking Points

Moreira joins LCR Honda for 2026

The biggest off-track news of the week dropped early — Diogo Moreira, one of Moto2’s standout title contenders, has officially signed with LCR Honda for the 2026 MotoGP season.
The young Brazilian becomes the final piece of next year’s MotoGP puzzle, completing the 2026 grid. Speaking about the announcement, Moreira said he’s “incredibly proud” to be joining HRC, calling it a dream come true and a huge step forward in his racing career.

Bezzecchi hit with double Long Lap penalty

The fallout from Indonesia continues. After his collision with Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) in Mandalika, Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) has been handed a double Long Lap penalty to serve during Sunday’s Grand Prix.
Bezzecchi didn’t shy away from responsibility, admitting, “I made a mistake… I accept it.” The Italian’s honesty was met with respect from fans and fellow riders alike — but that won’t make his task at Phillip Island any easier.

Alex Marquez eyes runner-up finish

With the championship already wrapped up, Alex Marquez has shifted his focus to the battle for second place in the standings. Speaking ahead of the weekend, the Gresini Ducati rider said he’s determined to “end the year strong” and believes Phillip Island’s fast, flowing nature suits his style perfectly.

Pre-Event Press Conference and GearUP show

The pre-event press conference brought together Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), fresh from a strong run of form, Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) — the surprise winner of the Indonesian GP — and home favourite Jack Miller (Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP).
The trio fielded questions about their expectations for Australia and the season ahead, with Aldeguer even asked if he could match Marc Márquez’s record by becoming a back-to-back rookie race winner.

Phillip Island Parade brings the fans together

If Thursday belonged to the riders, the afternoon was for the fans. The Phillip Island Parade returned in full swing, featuring legends old and new — including Casey StonerFrancesco Bagnaia, and Jack Miller — leading a roaring pack of riders and enthusiasts from nearby San Remo to the Island itself.
Under bright Australian sunshine, the parade once again proved why Phillip Island is so beloved: world-class riders, breathtaking scenery, and a fanbase that lives and breathes MotoGP.
MotoGP Hall of Famer Casey Stoner summed it up perfectly: “It’s MotoGP. The level is extremely high — and there’s no better place than here to feel that energy.”

Stay tuned – track action begins Friday

From the first laps on Friday morning to the final flag on Sunday, expect the unexpected. Phillip Island never disappoints — whether it’s a photo-finish battle, a shock podium, or a weather-induced thriller, this circuit always delivers drama.
