“If I’m Not Competitive Here, Something’s Wrong”: Mugello Media Day Sets the Stage for a Crucial Weekend
Round 9 of the 2025 MotoGP™ season rolls into one of the sport’s most beloved arenas: the breathtaking Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello. Set against the rolling Tuscan hills, the stage is perfectly set for a weekend that could prove pivotal—especially for Italy’s own Francesco Bagnaia. After returning to form with a strong showing in Aragon, the reigning World Champion now looks to extend his unbeaten streak at home. But the challenge has never been tougher.
Across the garage, Marc Marquez arrives not only as Bagnaia’s Ducati Lenovo teammate but as the current championship leader—and with momentum on his side after a dominant weekend in Spain. The tension is palpable as the two title contenders prepare to do battle on familiar turf.
Joining them in Thursday’s Pre-Event Press Conference were two more names sure to make headlines this weekend: Italy’s most recent race winner, Marco Bezzecchi, now flying the flag for Aprilia Racing, and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s teenage sensation, Pedro Acosta. Between them, the conversation ranged from setup insights to the pressure of performing in front of home fans.
Before the track action gets underway, don’t miss the latest episode of Gear Up, featuring exclusive insights from Yamaha Factory Racing Managing Director Paolo Pavesio and breakout Aragon performer Manuel Gonzalez of the Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP team.
