The Italian becomes the 10th different winner in a row at Silverstone as Martin outpaces Bagnaia to claim the Championship lead
Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) delivered an unforgettable performance on a special Sunday, capping off a historic weekend at the Monster Energy British Grand Prix with a stunning victory. The #23 rider became the 10th different winner at Silverstone in the last ten events, surging late in the race to secure the win and climb to third in the title fight, just 49 points behind the leader. Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing), who led most of the race, finished second, unable to fend off Bastianini.
Reigning Champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) claimed the final podium spot, rebounding from a crash on Saturday. His third-place finish, his 43rd MotoGP™ podium on a Ducati, puts him three points behind Martin in the standings.
As the race began, Bagnaia made a phenomenal start, taking the holeshot and leading into Turn 1, followed by Bastianini and Martin. Polesitter Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing) fell to fourth after some shuffling, with Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) momentarily passing him before dropping back to fifth.
Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) faced an early exit due to a technical issue, while Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez of Trackhouse Racing also crashed out on the opening lap.
Bagnaia initially led, but Martin soon overtook Bastianini, who then fell to fourth as Espargaro moved up. The top five began to pull away, with Bagnaia maintaining his lead.
Further back, Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) and Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) battled for seventh. Di Giannantonio eventually moved past Acosta and started dueling with Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) for sixth.
At the front, Martin took the lead on Lap 12, passing Bagnaia at Turn 3. Bastianini soon moved into third, passing Espargaro. A mistake by Martin allowed Bagnaia and Bastianini to close in, and Bastianini overtook his teammate for second place.
With six laps to go, Bastianini began closing the gap to Martin. By the penultimate lap, he was close enough to capitalize on Martin’s mistake at Turn 3, taking the lead as the final lap began.
Bastianini extended his lead in the last lap, crossing the finish line to win ahead of Martin and Bagnaia. Marc Marquez finished fourth after a late charge, with Di Giannantonio climbing from 10th to fifth. Espargaro finished sixth, closely followed by Alex Marquez.
Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) finished eighth, ahead of rookie Acosta in ninth. Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac Racing) took the final top ten spot, battling through the field despite two Long Lap penalties.
After an incredible weekend at Silverstone, MotoGP™ heads to the Motorrad Grand Prix von Österreich in two weeks. With just three points separating the top contenders and Bastianini gaining momentum, excitement is building for the next race in Spielberg!
