The battle for the 2023 Bennetts British Superbike Championship is intensifying, and it’s set to reach its climax at Brands Hatch in two weeks’ time (13-15 October). This thrilling showdown comes after an eventful penultimate round at Donington Park.
The BeerMonster Ducati teammates are still leading the championship, but the weekend at Donington Park was far from smooth for Tommy Bridewell and Glenn Irwin, considering their usual standards. Only 7.5 points separate them as they head into the final three races at Brands Hatch.
While the top two contenders faced challenges at Donington Park, Kyle Ryde made a remarkable move to close the gap, now trailing Bridewell by just 35 points in the standings. The LAMI OMG Racing Yamaha rider, in turn, has a narrow lead of six points over Leon Haslam, who secured an impressive double podium finish.
As we approach the season finale at Brands Hatch, where 105 points are up for grabs, the competition remains wide open. Lee Jackson, Jason O’Halloran, Josh Brookes, and Christian Iddon have all put in strong performances at Donington Park and are within reach of the championship title based on the mathematical points available.
