Race Two Summary Bennetts Superbike Championship at Oulton Park
Glenn Irwin Triumphs in Wet Conditions
Glenn Irwin made a stunning comeback from an early incident to secure victory in a shortened 10-lap sprint at a wet Oulton Park. The race, part of round nine of the 2024 Bennetts Superbike Championship, was delayed for a long period due to conditions. Despite the wet track, Irwin surged forward, taking the lead by the end of the first lap.
Iddon’s Early Lead and Crash
Christian Iddon briefly took the lead on lap three but crashed out at Shell Oils. This incident caused chaos behind him, as several riders scrambled to avoid the fallen Oxford Products bike. The Hager Ducati rider rejoined in seventh after running onto the grass.
Irwin’s Charge and Haslam’s Misfortune
Undeterred, Irwin fought back to catch the leading pack, which included Leon Haslam, Tommy Bridewell, Lewis Rollo, and Danny Kent. Irwin pushed hard, setting the fastest lap as he closed in on Haslam’s BMW. On the final lap, Irwin made a bold move, leaving little room for Haslam, who locked up and ran off track, allowing Irwin to take his seventh win of the season.
Podium Finishes for Kent and Haslam
The final lap incident elevated Danny Kent to his first podium finish at Oulton Park, finishing second for McAMS Yamaha, just 0.679 seconds behind Irwin. Haslam, who was close to securing his first win since 2018, settled for third after losing time in the final moments.
Bridewell, Rollo, and the Top Ten
Tommy Bridewell recovered from a ninth-place grid start to finish fourth. Lewis Rollo shone on his Aprilia, holding his own in the lead group and finishing fifth after challenging Bridewell in the wet conditions. Jason O’Halloran finished sixth, narrowly beating Lee Jackson in a close battle to the line. Storm Stacey took eighth for LKQ Euro Car Parts Kawasaki, maintaining a significant gap over Andrew Irwin, who came in ninth for Honda. Fraser Rogers completed the top ten for TAG Honda.
The Rest of the Field
Billy McConnell finished eleventh in a close race, while early pole-sitter Kyle Ryde struggled in the wet conditions, falling to twelfth. Ryan Vickers, who started seventh and was fastest in the morning warm-up, ended up in twelfth as well after a challenging race that included a shunt on lap one and an off-track excursion at Old Hall.
Remaining Points Finishers
Peter Hickman took 14th place for FHO Racing, and Max Cook secured the final point in 15th for Completely Motorbikes. Josh Brookes narrowly missed out on points, finishing 16th after fading back from a front-row start.

Race Three Summary Bennetts Superbike Championship at Oulton Park

Kyle Ryde Wins Red-Flagged Final Race
Kyle Ryde bounced back from a difficult race two to claim victory in a race disrupted by red flags at Oulton Park. This marked his second win of the weekend in the first Showdown round of the 2024 Bennetts Superbike Championship.
Weather Challenges and Red Flags
The race was initially shortened to 15 laps due to wet conditions. Storm Stacey excelled in the rain, building a commanding lead of over 16 seconds. However, worsening weather led to several crashes, prompting officials to stop the race with red flags.
Ryde’s Recovery and Restart Victory
Ryde, who started 19th on the grid after a challenging race two, had climbed to sixth by the time the race was halted. He began the restart from this position and quickly took the lead on lap three of the five-lap dash. Ryde executed a well-planned maneuver, setting up his pass on Stacey at Lodge Corner before overtaking at Old Hall. He then pulled away to win by a margin of 5.965 seconds, securing his sixth victory of the season.
Podium Finishers: Bridewell and Stacey
Tommy Bridewell took second place, managing to limit the damage to his championship hopes with a similar pass on Stacey. Storm Stacey, who had lost a substantial lead twice in wet conditions this season, secured a well-deserved third place for LKQ Car Parts Kawasaki.
Intense Battle for Fourth Place
A four-way battle for fourth unfolded behind the leaders, featuring Andrew Irwin, Max Cook, Danny Kent, and Christian Iddon. The quartet raced aggressively, going four-abreast in the closing stages. Max Cook emerged victorious in this contest, finishing fourth for Completely Motorbikes Kawasaki, followed by Danny Kent in fifth on the McAMS Yamaha. Iddon secured sixth for Oxford Products Ducati, while Lee Jackson joined the fray on the last lap to snatch seventh for MasterMac Honda. Andrew Irwin ended up in eighth.
Further Down the Order
Glenn Irwin, the winner of race two, struggled with grip issues on his Ducati and dropped to ninth after starting from pole. Josh Brookes, who crashed during the original start, restarted from the back of the grid after his FHO Racing team managed a quick repair. He recovered well to finish tenth, just ahead of teammate Peter Hickman in eleventh. Richard Kerr, replacing Alex Olsen at IWR Racing, finished 12th as the top Pathway rider after Lewis Rollo crashed out.
Remaining Finishers
Only 15 riders finished the race, with all scoring points. Leon Haslam, who initially showed promise, faded to 13th on his ROKiT Haslam BMW Motorrad. Brayden Elliott remained upright to claim 14th for DAO Racing, and Luke Hedger completed the points in 15th for Whitecliffe CDH Racing Kawasaki.
