Lee Jackson Become the 11th different podium finisher of 2023

Jason O’Halloran orchestrated a remarkable comeback in the second race of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Thruxton, seizing his second victory. Starting from a modest tenth position at the conclusion of the first lap, O’Halloran displayed his tenacity by progressively advancing through the field. He eventually surged to the front in the closing moments, successfully fending off challenges from Lee Jackson, who secured Kawasaki’s first podium of the season for Cheshire Mouldings Kawasaki.
Although O’Halloran initially commenced from the seventh spot on the grid, he encountered a setback, plummeting to tenth by the end of the opening lap. Nonetheless, he exhibited his prowess by diligently regaining ground. His ascent to fourth within the final five laps set the stage for an exhilarating showdown with Jackson for the lead, ultimately culminating in a thrilling exchange of positions.
Demonstrating his mettle, the Australian rider capitalized on the final two laps, managing to secure his impressive winning streak at Thruxton. This triumph marked his seventh victory in eight races at the Hampshire circuit and his 25th overall in the Bennetts BSB championship.
Jackson’s journey to second place was marked by a fierce contest, with the 20-lap race featuring a captivating battle involving eight riders. The Cheshire Mouldings Kawasaki rider emerged victorious in the fight for third, clinching the first podium of the season for Team Green. However, the race spelled disappointment for rookie Max Cook, a local contender, who found himself entangled in the leading group’s skirmish. A congested moment at the Chicane on lap 14 caused him to lose control and crash, fortunately escaping unscathed.
The lead group exhibited an ongoing shuffle of positions, embodying the typical Thruxton intensity. The fierce competition persisted until the finish line, with the top eight contenders separated by a hair’s breadth.
Impressive rookie Charlie Nesbitt further solidified his weekend performance by securing a podium finish, effectively fending off Ryan Vickers astride the leading LAMI OMG Racing Yamaha. Notably, Vickers was one among six different riders to take the lead during the race.
Jack Kennedy showcased his prowess by advancing through the ranks, securing another top-five finish. He outpaced Kyle Ryde and Leon Haslam, who piloted the leading BMW. Just ahead, Peter Hickman secured eighth place.
Christian Iddon demonstrated his skill as the leading Ducati contender, securing ninth place for the Oxford Products Racing Ducati. Meanwhile, Danny Kent wrapped up the top ten for the Lovell Kent Racing Honda team. Championship leader Tommy Bridewell concluded the race in the 14th position aboard the BeerMonster Ducati.
