Jason O’Halloran kept the momentum flowing from the previous Bennetts British Superbike Championship round, emerging as the frontrunner in the combined Free Practice times at Cadwell Park. The sequence was set during a dry morning session, which established the hierarchy following a damp afternoon.
The rider from the McAMS Yamaha stable secured a triumphant triple victory at Thruxton, and this time around, he maintained his supremacy by clocking his personal best lap around the Lincolnshire track during the inaugural session. Meanwhile, the Australian sensation Kyle Ryde, competing for LAMI OMG Racing Yamaha, etched his name under the existing lap race record, leaving a mere 0.097-second gap between them at the pinnacle of the standings.
LAMI OMG Racing Yamaha exhibited its prowess as both of its riders clinched spots within the top three. Ryan Vickers embarked on yet another robust beginning to the weekend, successfully fending off challenges from Storm Stacey on the Starline Racing Kawasaki and Glenn Irwin, who secured the fifth spot for the BeerMonster Ducati contingent.
Sixth place was claimed by Josh Brookes, spearheading the FHO Racing BMW Motorrad Team, maneuvering ahead of Lee Jackson on the Cheshire Mouldings Kawasaki and Christian Iddon, who wrapped up the top eight for Oxford Products Racing Ducati.
Within the upper echelons of the standings, Charlie Nesbitt and Peter Hickman held their ground, with Leon Haslam and the reigning championship leader, Tommy Bridewell, confirming their positions for tomorrow’s Omologato Superpole.
In the afternoon’s moisture-laden session, Brookes reclaimed his prominence for the FHO Racing BMW Motorrad Team, edging ahead in the final moments. Irwin and Bridewell managed to secure commendable positions in the standings, followed by Nesbitt and Jackson, rounding out the top five. However, the pivotal determination for the top 12 riders progressing directly into tomorrow’s Omologato Superpole came from the dry morning session.
