Lee Jackson

Free Practice 1

In the initial practice session at Donington, Lee Jackson delivered a somewhat unexpected performance by topping the time charts. Jackson, who currently occupies the 13th position in the standings and achieved his best result of 11th this season, surprised many with his pace. However, it’s worth noting that despite his impressive showing, Jackson’s fastest time in FP1 was more than a second slower than Kyle Ryde’s benchmark set during the preseason test held at Donington in April.

Ryde secured the fourth-fastest time in FP1, trailing behind Jackson, Ryan Vickers, and Christian Iddon. Notably, Ryde was the final rider to clock a lap time under 1:29 during the opening session.

Despite being outside the 1:28 mark, championship leader Glenn Irwin was close in pace, posting a time of 1:29.081, less than a tenth slower than Ryde. Irwin, positioned seventh, found himself with Leon Haslam and Danny Kent between him and Ryde on the time charts.

Further down the order, Charlie Nesbitt, Josh Brookes, and Jason O’Halloran rounded out the top 10 positions.

Vickers Secures Top Spot by a Whisker in Donington Park Free Practice

Ryan Vickers reclaimed his position at the forefront of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship pack following the initial Free Practice sessions at Donington Park. The OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing rider narrowly outpaced Jason O’Halloran aboard the Completely Motorbikes Kawasaki, holding onto the lead by a mere 0.012s.

Maintaining his grip on the top spot by the slimmest of margins, Vickers faced stiff competition as O’Halloran’s second-to-last lap of the day secured him second place overall, just 0.076s ahead of local favorite Leon Haslam and the ROKiT Haslam Racing BMW Motorrad Team.

Glenn Irwin, piloting the Hager PBM Ducati, secured the fourth-fastest time as he heads into tomorrow’s inaugural race of the weekend, closely followed by Danny Kent of McAMS Racing Yamaha in fifth position.

Kyle Ryde, representing the OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing Team, secured the sixth-fastest time, fending off challenges from Christian Iddon and the MasterMac Honda teammates, Charlie Nesbitt and Lee Jackson.

Max Cook and Peter Hickman secured positions within the top twelve, setting the stage for tomorrow’s opening race. Additionally, the return of Luke Mossey to the Championship showcased an impressive performance, as he sealed his spot among the top twelve riders on combined times, advancing directly into Omologato Superpole tomorrow on his debut with STAUFF Fluid Power Kawasaki.
