Result: Race Two, Round Eight of the 2024 Bennetts Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park
In a fiercely contested sprint race at Cadwell Park, Tommy Bridewell claimed victory in race two of round eight of the 2024 Bennetts Superbike Championship. The Honda UK rider delivered a masterclass in defensive racing, securing his second win of the season by holding off the competition from start to finish.
Bridewell started strong, overtaking local rider Lee Jackson, who had started from pole, before the first timing sector. Jackson immediately countered, but Bridewell maintained his lead through the first lap, setting the tone for the race. Despite pressure from behind, the reigning champion expertly managed his pace and positioning, keeping his rivals at bay across all 12 laps.
Kyle Ryde, who had topped the warm-up session and started third on the grid, overtook Jackson on lap four, but was quickly repassed by the MasterMac Honda rider. Ryde regained second place by lap eight but found it difficult to challenge Bridewell for the lead without risking his position. In the end, Ryde finished second, just 0.219 seconds behind Bridewell, earning him the ‘King of the Mountain’ special award. Jackson finished a mere 0.023 seconds behind Ryde, securing third place on the podium.
Charlie Nesbitt had another impressive performance, clocking the fastest lap of the race, just shy of the lap record. Although he started fourth and finished in the same position, Nesbitt’s speed will place him on pole for the final race. Notably, Nesbitt achieved this while riding the older 2023 MasterMac bike, after damaging the 2024 model in a previous round.
Glenn Irwin, last year’s sprint race winner, briefly moved into fourth but a mistake on lap seven saw him drop back to fifth. Meanwhile, Ryan Vickers, who had a disastrous Sunday due to a qualifying crash and a subsequent DNF, staged a remarkable comeback. Starting 20th on the grid, Vickers surged through the field to finish sixth, earning a front-row start for the final race.
Josh Brookes recovered from an early mistake to finish seventh, the highest-placed FHO Racing BMW Motorrad rider. Leon Haslam brought his ROKiT Haslam BMW home in eighth, followed by Christian Iddon in ninth for Oxford Products. Jason O’Halloran battled through injury to secure tenth place for Completely Motorbikes Kawasaki, the best finish for the manufacturer.
Further down the field, Danny Buchan took eleventh for DAO Racing, with Billy McConnell finishing twelfth for the local C&L Fairburn/Look Forward Racing team. Storm Stacey (LKQ Euro Car Parts Kawasaki) claimed 13th, top replacement rider Tom Ward (Rapid Honda) finished 14th, and Peter Hickman rounded out the points in 15th after receiving a two-second penalty for his involvement in Danny Kent’s crash.
In the Pathway class, Lewis Rollo once again finished as the top rider, effectively securing the Pathway championship after Alex Olsen retired from the race.

Results: Race Three, Round Eight of the 2024 Bennetts Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park

Kyle Ryde secured victory in race three of round eight of the 2024 Bennetts Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park, successfully fending off Tommy Bridewell to clinch his second win of the weekend.
Ryde, who expected to follow his teammate Ryan Vickers, was unexpectedly thrust into the lead after Vickers, who had been leading, crashed out on lap three at Coppice. Vickers’ aggressive push to capitalize on his speed led to a high-speed crash, leaving Ryde to inherit the front position with Charlie Nesbitt and Tommy Bridewell in pursuit.
Starting from fifth, Bridewell methodically made his way through the field, joining the battle for the lead by lap eight. At Coppice, he began his attack on Nesbitt, aiming for second place. However, Ryde responded by increasing his pace, creating a gap that Bridewell couldn’t close in the latter stages.
Ryde held his lead to cross the finish line 0.702 seconds ahead of Bridewell, capturing the anniversary ‘Cadwell 90’ trophy in celebration of 90 years of racing at the circuit. Bridewell’s second-place finish marked his 100th BSB podium. Lee Jackson secured third place with a clean move on Nesbitt at the start of lap eleven, completing a hat-trick of podium finishes at his home track.
Nesbitt finished fourth, pulling away from Glenn Irwin, who fell back into the clutches of Josh Brookes in the closing stages. Brookes, riding for FHO Racing, finished sixth and celebrated his best result of the weekend with a burnout.
Leon Haslam crossed the line in seventh for ROKiT Haslam Racing, followed by Christian Iddon, who claimed eighth place for Oxford Products Ducati—his best finish of the weekend. Peter Hickman finished ninth, earning his best result of the season on the second FHO Racing bike, while Billy McConnell rounded out the top ten for C&L Fairburn/Look Forward Racing.
Danny Buchan received a two-second penalty for cutting the chicane on lap 13, dropping him to eleventh for DAO Racing. Danny Kent struggled mid-race, falling out of the top ten to finish twelfth for McAMS Racing, capping a challenging weekend for the former Moto3 champion.
Storm Stacey finished 13th for LKQ Euro Car Parts Kawasaki, while Max Cook claimed his first points of the weekend in 14th for Completely Motorbikes Kawasaki. Bradley Perie, stepping in for Tom Neave, picked up the final point in 15th for Stauff Fluid Power Kawasaki.
In the Pathway class, Alex Olsen was the top finisher for Cumins by Team IWR Honda in 17th, just ahead of Lewis Rollo.
