Glenn Irwin Returns to Victory in British Superbike Championship Sprint at Donington Park

Hagar PBM rider, Glenn Irwin, reclaimed his winning form in the second race of the third round of the British Superbike championship at Donington Park, known as the sprint race. Despite starting second on the grid, Irwin displayed unwavering focus, armed with a finely-tuned bike and a meticulously planned strategy.

A stellar start propelled Irwin past his competitors, securing the lead out of turn one, a position he maintained throughout the twelve laps. Leon Haslam, riding for ROKiT Haslam BMW Motorrad, relentlessly pursued Irwin, narrowing the gap to mere fractions of a second by the final lap. Irwin’s defensive maneuvers into the Melbourne Loop forced Haslam to swerve, securing Irwin’s fourth win of the season by a mere 0.0335 seconds. Haslam’s pursuit of Irwin allowed him to pull away from the pack behind.

Tommy Bridewell clinched the final podium spot, outmaneuvering Danny Kent and Kyle Ryde on his Honda. Kent’s strategic line choices left openings for his rivals, resulting in a drop to seventh position as he was overtaken on the track. Undeterred, Kent swiftly regained momentum, setting the fastest lap of the race at Donington Park and securing another fourth-place finish and pole position for race three.

Kyle Ryde, after an impressive morning warm-up, struggled to maintain his position from sixth on the grid. Despite initially vying for third place, Ryde settled for fifth in the mid-race battle for the podium spot.

Christian Iddon, despite enduring a hard fall in race one, was cleared to ride after morning warm-up. Battling a shoulder injury, Iddon fought valiantly, securing sixth place despite fading towards the end of the race.

Charlie Nesbitt delivered his best performance of the season, climbing from eleventh to seventh position for MasterMac Honda.

Josh Brookes showed improvement, securing eighth place for FHO Racing BMW Motorrad, closely followed by Andrew Irwin in ninth for Honda Racing UK.

Fraser Rogers of TAG Honda completed the top ten, with an eventful race highlighted by a late incident prompting the adhesion flag.

Dean Harrison claimed eleventh place for Honda, with Lee Jackson in twelfth for MasterMac Honda.

Lewis Rollo finished as the top Pathway bike, bringing his Aprilia home in thirteenth place, while Luke Mossey, standing in for Tom Neave at Stauff Fluid Power Kawasaki, secured fourteenth place at the chequered flag.

Alex Olsen of Cumins by Team IWR Honda finished fifteenth, with Storm Stacey, returning after a crash, narrowly missing out on a point in sixteenth place for LKQ Car Parts Kawasaki.

Jason O’Halloran Secures Thrilling Victory for Completely Motorbikes Kawasaki in British Superbike Championship Round Three

The third race of the third round of the British Superbike championship at Donington Park delivered an instant classic, culminating in a nail-biting finish that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. In a display of opportunism, Jason O’Halloran seized a gap and powered his way to victory, marking his first win for Completely Motorbikes Kawasaki.

The race kicked off with a stellar start from Tommy Bridewell, who quickly took the lead. However, he faced relentless pressure from his former teammate Glenn Irwin at the Old Hairpin and the Melbourne Loop, ultimately relinquishing the lead to Irwin on lap ten.

With four riders in the lead group, including O’Halloran and Danny Kent, the competition remained fierce as old rivals battled it out on the track. The final two laps were a spectacle of intense action as the lead quartet pushed the limits.

O’Halloran seized the opportunity to surge into the lead, while Kent joined the fray, ultimately securing third place after claiming pole position for the race. Irwin, despite winning the sprint race earlier, narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth.

Leon Haslam, initially in contention, fell behind as the pace increased, allowing Kyle Ryde to claim fifth place. Andrew Irwin, after a promising start, encountered difficulties, finishing seventh for Honda.

Lee Jackson showed significant improvement, finishing eighth and gaining the most positions in the race for MasterMac Honda. Christian Iddon, despite fading towards the end, displayed bravery and determination, securing ninth place and valuable championship points.

Max Cook, recovering from earlier setbacks, secured a top ten finish, followed by Charlie Nesbitt in eleventh for MasterMac Honda. Fraser Rogers crossed the line in twelfth for TAG Honda, rounding up the points finishers.

Dean Harrison claimed thirteenth place for Honda, followed by Billy McConnell in fourteenth for Look Forward Racing Honda, and Storm Stacey in fifteenth, securing the final point.

Lewis Rollo, the sole remaining Pathway rider, concluded his weekend with a seventeenth-place finish.
