Tommy Bridewell secured a remarkable double victory in the 2023 Bennetts British Superbike Championship by dominating the field and fending off his competitors until the checkered flag in a restarted race that turned into a thrilling eight-lap sprint.

At the beginning of the race, Josh Brookes took the lead, closely followed by Glenn Irwin and Bridewell. The three riders engaged in an intense battle on the opening lap, with Brookes initially holding the advantage.

On lap four, Jason O’Halloran made a decisive move at Coram to snatch the lead from Brookes. Although Brookes briefly regained the position at Riches, O’Halloran swiftly reclaimed it at Wilsons. Meanwhile, Irwin moved into second place with a maneuver at Wilson on lap five, forming a leading trio consisting of McAMS Yamaha, Irwin, and Brookes.

However, the race was red-flagged on lap seven following a crash involving Peter Hickman and Danny Buchan at Hamilton which were in fact separate incidents. After the restart, Brookes took the initial lead, but Bridewell made a brilliant move at Agostini on lap three to seize the front position. From there, the BeerMonster Ducati rider gradually extended his lead as the race reached its conclusion.

The battle for the remaining podium spots unfolded in a four-way tussle on the final lap. Brookes managed to secure second place by fending off Leon Haslam, who made a strong comeback for ROKiT BMW Motorrad. Meanwhile, Irwin and O’Halloran engaged in a fierce contest for fourth place, but the second BeerMonster Ducati rider successfully held off the Yamaha rider despite several attempts.

Tommy Bridewell’s exceptional performance secured him a well-deserved double win, showcasing his skill and determination in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.
